Story #1

People who take Interstate 790 regularly had to take a detour because of a bad car accident. The accident happened in the northbound lanes, closing the entire highway. A chain reaction started on the Interstate by two tractor trailers colliding together. Four tractor-trailers and 14 cars were involved, states the police departments, Sgt. Albert Wei. Unfortunately two people died and 20 people were injured and taken to the hospital, four people are in serious condition. The fire department ambulances were there helping out. They had to cut off the roofs of the cars to free people who were trapped inside. Five fire department ambulances, along with four nearby city’s fire departments. A helicopter from Memorial Hospital came and air lifted two of the four seriously injured victims to a trauma center in Statesville. Sgt. Albert stated that he didn’t know when Interstate 790 would open again. The police are still investigating the accident.

Do's and Don'ts of leads.

The things I have learned about leads is that they need to be simple, and interesting. To make a good lead you need to write objectively, specifically and emphasize the point. The lead is the most interesting or unusual part of the first paragraph.
What breaks a lead is if you put too much time and effort on the time and the place the event/story occurred (an agenda lead). Also if you state the obvious in your lead is going to be boring and sound like every other lead about that topic.

Space Shuttles Now on Sale.

After space shuttles are no longer able to fly, NASA sells them to museums, and schools. Recently NASA has cut down the prices of the shuttles from 42 million dollars to 28.8 million dollars each.
The space shuttles Atlantis and the Endeavour are up for grabs. NASA might even put the Enterprise, which was a shuttle prototype, up for sale. People who want to buy the shuttles have to send a offer no later than Feb. 19th.

Introduction

Hi, my name is Karina Haack. I am a PSEO student at Anoka Ramsey Community College.

Some interesting things about me are; I like to dance and write. I have been dancing for about seven years with this group called For His Name Sake. It's not ballet or tap, it's Israeli dancing and worship all mixed to form a category...sort of. I like to write short stories but most of the time I am trying to write a book or jotting down ideas for one.

I hope you enjoyed my blog.
