A head-on crash occurred on Sunday, just west of Cambridge. Four young people in a car were killed and two people were killed in an SUV. The 16-year-old girl was driving the car. She had just got her license three weeks earlier. She is hospitalized at Hennepin County Medical Center in critical condition. There was an "odor of alcohol" in the car, the police are still investigating who was drinking.

I was surprised that the media reported an odor of alcohol. Weren't you? What kind of perception does that put on this young driver? Maybe the focus should have been: Were the kids killed on impact? Who was over the middle line of the road? Could the SUV people have been saved if there was a fire extinguisher handy? I would have focused the story on the young driver being the chauffeur for that many people and other issues.
